ST. PAUL - Former state Rep. Marty Seifert, R-Marshall, said he is thinking about running for governor, but will not decide before Saturday’s straw poll at the Minnesota State Central Committee meeting. A group led by Beltrami County Republican Chairman Ken Cobb is promoting Seifert as a straw poll write-in candidate.
ST. PAUL -- Mark Dayton said a hip problem will not prevent him from seeking a second term in the Minnesota governor’s office. “Last I read, brain cells are located in the head, not the hip,” he told reporters wondering if a Wednesday procedure at the Mayo Clinic would change his plans. If the procedure does not fix the hip, he added, “I will limp along.” Dayton admitted that the June injury, which came when he slipped on the governor’s residence steps, has curtailed trips around the state, “but it hasn’t hindered my ability to function.”

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Anthony Hare Jr., 18, of Cass Lake, was westbound on state Highway 200 in a 1997 Chevy Blazer at about 2 a.m. when it left the road and rolled.

Halloween’s celebrated with costumes, trick-or-treating and parties, and some Halloween foods can be really fun and tasty to make.
