WILLMAR -- A second victim has died following a shooting at a Granite Falls home early on the morning of Labor Day. KARE 11 TV reported Sunday that Christopher Panitzke, 28, of Redwood Falls, died at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. A Moorhead woman was killed Friday afternoon in a head-on crash on Highway 34 in Otter Tail County. Janeen M. Virnala, 60, of Moorhead died in the accident. She was a passenger in 1996 Dodge Intrepid that was eastbound on Highway 34. The car crossed the center line east of County Road 23 and collided with a 2007 Jeep CMP four-door wagon driven by Steven W. Haiby, 47, of Pelican Rapids. He suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. The crash occurred about 3 p.m.

Near midnight on Sept. 4, emergency responders and Otter Tail Power Company personnel reacted to information from a caller who noticed arcing in an electrical substation in north Wahpeton, N.D. According to Otter Tail Power Company’s safety services manager Eric Hamm, responders discovered that a trespasser, or trespassers, had cut the substation fence and had begun to cut ground wires from electrical equipment before hitting a live wire that caused an arc flash.
MOORHEAD – A Vergas woman is facing a felony bigamy charge after one of her husbands reported to Texas authorities the two weren’t divorced before her recent marriage in Clay County to another man. Penny Lynn Fick, 38, was charged Monday in Clay County District Court.
WINNIPEG - A Fargo man has been charged in Canada with illegal border crossing, theft of a motor vehicle, mischief, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a vehicle and other counts, according the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Joshua James Grandbois, 29, was arrested Tuesday by RCMP officers using a police dog in a wooded area in the Cartier, Manitoba, Rural Municipality, the RCMP reported. According to a news release, the RCMP learned Saturday that a car with North Dakota plates had illegally entered Canada and that its driver, fleeing U.S.
BELVIEW, Minn. — Investigators have located a vehicle believed to be driven by Andrew Joseph Dikken, 28, of Granite Falls, the person of interest in a Monday shooting death Granite Falls. According to the State Department of Public Safety, the 1996 GMC Sierra pickup was found in a remote location approximately five miles north of Belview, off of Redwood County Road 7, to the southeast of Granite Falls in west-central Minnesota. Investigators are continuing to search for Dikken.
GRANITE FALLS — Authorities investigating the Monday morning shooting death of a 26-year-old Granite Falls woman are still trying to locate a man referred to as a "person of interest" in the homicide. Law enforcement has not released the name of the woman who was killed, but multiple sources say it was Kara Ann Monson.
