DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - We've all seen what Adam Thielen can do on the football field for the Minnesota Vikings, but the Detroit Lakes native had some Pro Bowl-worthy moves even back in high school. Check out the video above for highlights from his high school career.
Carson Wentz and Adam Thielen, who played football for two area high schools, have been selected to play in the National Football League's Pro Bowl. Wentz, a second-year quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Thielen, a fourth-year wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, were among those named to the NFC team's starting roster. Wentz played high school football at Bismarck (N.D.) Century and college football at North Dakota State. Thielen played high school football at Detroit Lakes (Minn.) and college football at Minnesota State-Mankato.

CASS LAKE, Minn. - A woman hiking in the Chippewa National Forest in north-central Minnesota has captured a rare sighting of a Canada lynx. Linda Palcich saw the lynx in the Sugar Bush area of the forest and submitted the photo to the Bemidji newspaper. Palcich took the photo around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Canada lynx sightings are particularly rare in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, there have been 426 reports with location information of Canada lynx sightings in the state, 63 of which have been verified as Canada lynx.

PAUL --- A Fargo, N.D., man who scammed Minnesota welfare programs out of hundreds of thousands of dollars will spend the next decade in prison. Elfonzo Dyrell Shelby was sentenced Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court to just over 14 years in prison for committing identity theft and theft by swindle, according to court records.
SHAKOPEE, Minn. — The former superintendent for Shakopee Public Schools has been charged on suspicion of using a district credit card to pay for trips, home electronics, Grand Ole Opry tickets, sports memorabilia, jewelry and other items. Rod Thompson, who previously worked as the Detroit Lakes High School principal and superintendent at Greenway School District, abused his district-issued credit card to purchase items for personal use, the Shakopee Police Department said in a news release.
