MAIDEN ROCK, Wis. - A Red Wing, Minn., youth died over the weekend of a gunshot wound that occurred while hunting in Maiden Rock in northwest Wisconsin. The incident is under investigation, according to authorities in Pierce County, Wis. Logan Hinrichs attended eighth grade at Red Wing High School. HAWLEY, MINN. - Authorities are searching for the owner of a vehicle hit by a BNSF train in Clay County overnight. It happened at the railroad crossing on County Road 31, south of Hawley at about 1:30 this morning. Clay County authorities tell us they believe the vehicle was empty. They also say no one was killed or injured. Hawley Police believe the train was traveling north when it struck a pickup truck on the north side of the tracks.
MAHNOMEN, Minn. – A local man was killed early Sunday morning when a train collided with his car, according to the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Department. Timothy Goodman, 45, was crossing the Canadian Pacific railroad tracks at 140th Street just south of town around 3:30 a.m. when the accident happened. The train was not able to stop in time, the department said. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to Grand Forks for an autopsy.
