LOS ANGELES -- Aw jeez, FX's "Fargo" sure was a heck of a show, according to the Critics' Choice Television Awards. The 10-episode series inspired by the Coen brothers' black comedy film won three of the five awards it was nominated for on Thursday, picking up high honors in the earliest critical competition it was eligible for. PARK RAPIDS, Minn.
ST. PAUL — Gov. Mark Dayton declared a state of emergency today in response to flooding and other problems related to heavy rainfall in recent days. Dayton’s executive order makes a range of state resources available and engages state agencies in response efforts. The Governor directed the Minnesota National Guard to send 100 soldiers to Koochiching County to help in storm affected areas. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management has activated the State Emergency Operations Center.

MOORHEAD – A Fargo man was pulled over Tuesday night for driving recklessly in a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette, and police found 4.25 pounds of marijuana and just under $10,000 in the car, Moorhead police said. Just before 9 p.m., an officer spotted 26-year-old Thomas Schultz driving at a high rate of speed at Eighth Street South and Main Avenue, Lt. Tory Jacobson said.
North Dakota has surpassed the much-anticipated milestone of producing 1 million barrels of oil per day. The state produced an average of 1,001,149 barrels per day in April, according to preliminary figures released by the state Tuesday. North Dakota has been hovering around that milestone for several months, but difficult winter weather slowed production and delayed hitting the mark until spring. North Dakota is the second-highest oil-producing state, trailing only Texas. Daily oil production in Texas is approaching 3 million barrels per day.
WALKER - A Cass Lake man was sentenced Monday in Cass County District Court to nearly 10 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct. Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie reports that Francis "Tuffy" Peter Isham, 61, who pled guilty to one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct on May 6, was sentenced to serve 119 months in prison pursuant to the Minnesota Sentencing guidelines. The complaint filed by the Cass County Attorney's Office alleged Isham had engaged in sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl in 2006.
FARGO – A 33-year-old Bismarck man was arrested Tuesday night after a chase with police that ended at the West Acres mall, forcing the shopping center into its first-ever lockdown. Kendall Scott Feist, who had warrants out for his arrest, was seen at a business in the Moorhead Industrial Park around 7 p.m., Moorhead police said. Feist drove away from the scene before police arrived. He fled when they tried to pull him over on Main Avenue Southeast, eventually driving onto the Village Green Golf Course.
