SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver Saturday morning on Highway 10 near Sauk Rapids. The Minnesota State Patrol said Robert C. Schmidt, 23, of St. Cloud, was struck by a 1990 Buick Century around 5:30 a.m. at milepost 176. He died at the scene. The driver of the car, Angela J. Lott, 37, of Sauk Rapids, was southbound in the left lane of four-lane divided highway at the time of the accident. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

DULUTH - A Duluth woman persuaded her roommate to kill her former landlord, whom she accused of sexually assaulting her sister and molesting her son, authorities allege. Joella Lee Tucker, 32, of Duluth, and Raymond Charles Weeks, 42, of Two Harbors, were taken into custody Thursday on warrants in connection with the December 2012 murder of 54-year-old Duluth resident Kevin John Tyman. Weeks is charged with second-degree murder, while Tucker faces a charge of conspiracy to commit second-degree murder for her role in the slaying.

Two Meadowlands residents have been arrested and charged with stealing nearly 2,000 spruce trees off county-managed forestland – small trees and tree tops that they intended to sell in southern Minnesota as miniature Christmas trees. Steven George Morterud, 22, and Tara Lynn Herrick, 23, were arrested Nov. 8 and charged in state district court in Hibbing with theft of timber, a gross misdemeanor that could bring up to $3,000 in fines and up to one year in jail.
PARKERS PRAIRIE, Minn. – A bicyclist is dead after riding into traffic Thursday evening near this Otter Tail County town. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a bicyclist was riding west on 145th Street about 4 p.m. when the cyclist entered traffic and broadsided a northbound construction truck on state Highway 29. The bicyclist was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The truck was not damaged in the accident. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
