Minnesota’s deer kill after the first three days of the season was down 8 percent from last year, the Department of Natural Resources reported Wednesday. According to the DNR, hunters shot 77,008 deer during the first three days of the firearms season. Leslie McInenly, DNR big game program leader, said the slightly smaller harvest during the first three days wasn’t surprising. “Last year, opening weekend weather was almost ideal, and the state’s corn harvest was virtually complete,” she said.

WILLMAR, Minn. — Prosecutors are seeking to try a 16-year-old Willmar boy as an adult for his alleged role in the killing of an elderly woman. Devon Jenkins will stand for an adult certification hearing Dec. 10 in the killing of Lila Warwick, 79. The hearing date was set Tuesday, and it will be before District Judge Michael J. Thompson in Kandiyohi County District Court. Jenkins faces two charges of second-degree murder in the July 29 homicide.
