Brenda Muckenhirn, Kylie Johnson and David Langworthy appear headed for seats on the Detroit Lakes school Board. They were the top three vote-getters with all but a handful of precincts counted Tuesday evening. Muckenhirn led the pack with about 29 percent of the vote. Johnson had 28 percent, Langworthy 23 percent and the fourth candidate, Brett Bridgeman, was at 20 percent.
By Don Davis Dayton beat Republican Jeff Johnson. With 67 percent of precincts reporting, Dayton held a 52 percent to 43 percent lead, with many large counties reporting most of their votes but several rural ones providing few returns.

Minnesota House incumbents Steve Green and Paul Marquart kept their legislative seats, handily defeating challengers in Tuesday’s general election. Green, a Republican representing District 2B, was leading DFL challenger David Sobieski 57 percent to 43 percent with 80 percent of precincts reporting. Marquart, a longtime DFL representative, was leading Republican challenger Jared LaDuke 65 percent to 35 percent in the District 4B race with 75 percent of precincts reporting.
Keith Zachariason collected 193 votes and Dan Aune received 171 votes to win the three-way race for two seats on the Lake Park City Council Tuesday. Kimberly Holloway came in third with 43 votes.
Becker County Planning and Zoning administrator Patty Swenson is leading in the race for Becker County recorder, leading deputy recorder Karen Wenner 55 percent to 45 percent with 34 of 48 precincts reporting Tuesday evening.
Mary Hendrickson appears to have won the race for Becker County auditor-treasurer, leading Darin Halvorson 61 percent to 39 percent with about two-thirds of the precincts reporting Tuesday evening.
With 33 of 48 precincts reporting Tuesday evening, Becker County Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Glander was leading State Trooper Tim Clements 56 percent to 44 percent in the race for Becker County sheriff.
Incumbent Becker County Commissioner Ben Grimsley has been re-elected to a four-year term, defeating challenger Mark Hagedorn 1,129 votes to 1,027 votes. Grimsley, first elected two years ago, represents District 2 on the Becker County Board.
