A state trooper stationed in Detroit Lakes was injured Wednesday afternoon in a collision at Highway 9 and 28th Avenue in Clay County, near Buffalo River State Park. Trooper Tyler E. Iverson, 28, of Detroit Lakes suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford health care center.
Detroit Lakes Unit 31 of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary recently donated 32 multi-colored 'heart' pillows to the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fargo. The pillows, which were cut, sewn and stuffed by Detroit Lakes DAVA members Charlotte Olson, Arvona heck and Nadine Harris, are given to VAMC patients who have had heart surgery, to aid in their recovery.

The new Eagles Auxiliary officers are Kim Vaughn, Jean Clark, Mary Lee, Diane Schjerheim, Linda McCaslin, Judy Splonskowski, Cylinda Scheiben, Madam President Audrey Kuehl, Betty Hochhalter and Terri Anderson.
A Fargo man was injured in a three-vehicle crash in Lake Park on Thursday. Gregory Bruce Selbo, 67, of Fargo was taken to Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes with non life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. The crash occurred when a 2004 Chrysler 200, driven by a 16-year-old Lake Park girl, was southbound on Second Street and came to a stop at Highway 10. She proceeded across and stopped in the median, then waited for several vehicles to pass and proceeded to cross the eastbound lanes of Highway 10.

John Bridges United No. 15, American Legion Auxiliary of Detroit Lakes, once again sponsored a delegate to Minnesota girls State that was held June 10-16. Lily Burnside, daughter of Jennifer and Brady Burnside of Detroit Lakes, was the chosen delegate. She will be a senior at Detroit Lakes High School this year. Delegates to the program are sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary units throughout Minnesota. Girls State was held on the campus of Bethel University in St. Paul. Corrine Frank is the Girls State Chairman for Unit 15.
Legislation Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, authored to crack down on people who knowingly misrepresent a pet as an assistance animal is now law as of Aug. 1. The new law is aimed at curtailing the practice of people posing pets as service animals in public in order to obtain rights or privileges available to someone who qualifies for a service animal under state or federal law.

A Wadena man was seriously hurt Friday after his vehicle crashed during a high-speed chase with police. Derek Henry Dilly, 37, of Wadena was taken to a St. Cloud hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Friday evening, law enforcement officers in Wadena County were looking for a 2002 Chrysler Sebring that had been involved in a driving complaint in Wadena County.
