Wayne D. Erickson, 62, of Park Rapids, died Jan. 20, 2009 at home of an apparent heart attack. He grew up and lived much of his early life in the Cottonwood area. He worked as a beverage and chemical service technician for Reinhart Food Service and was transferred to the Park Rapids area in 1995. He is survived by four sons: Troy (Cathy) and Brandon (Kristy), of Duluth, Siver (Vanessa), of Cottonwood, and Justin (Kari), of White Bear Lake; nine grandchildren; and a sister Elaine (Per) Wickstrom, of Duluth. Funeral service: Monday, Jan. 26 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Cottonwood.
Rev. Karl Bertram Stroming, 83, of Lake Emma Township, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1925 to Carl and Myrtle Stroming in Little Falls. He lived in Fort Ripley, then Watertown in his early years. He attended Concordia Academy and Concordia College in St Paul, and Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Mo. His vicarage was completed in Bear Creek, Wis. He was the shepherd for congregations in Onarga, Ill., Bagley; Ottertail; Fort William; Ontario, Canada; Immanuel Fish Lake; and Prior Lake. He married Marion Steinhorst June 14, 1954. They had five children.
Winifred "Wynn" C. Jenkins, 93, of Park Rapids, formerly of Albuquerque, N.M., died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. She was born March 12, 1915 to Martin and Della Schneider in Pulaski Township, Iowa County, Wis. She graduated from Linden High School in Linden, Wis. She went on to attend La Crosse State Teachers College. She married Bud Jenkins on Sept. 1, 1935 in Freeport, Ill. They had two daughters. They made their home in Horeb, Wis., where she and her husband worked at the Jenkins Meat Market. In 1951 they moved to Park Rapids. She was a member of St.
Richard "Dick" Eugene Sandberg, 70, of Menahga, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D. He was born May 22, 1938 to Richard and Bernice (Sende) Sandberg in Alexandria. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1957. He married Jeanette "Jan" Putz on June 6, 1959. They lived in Hastings for 29 years. He worked for Ecolab in St. Paul for 40 years, and traveled extensively for his work. He retired in December 1999. He was a member of the Osman Temple in St.

Yvonne Mae Nordbo, 86, of Northwood, N.D. died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at the Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. She was born April 24, 1922 in Primrose Township to Edward and Emma (Eide) Evenson. She was baptized on June 4, 1922 at Perry Lutheran Church of rural Portland, N.D. and confirmed there on Oct. 23, 1936 by Pastor Brudvig. She attended school at Primrose Township School 4 where she graduated from the eighth grade. Upon finishing school she worked at different homes and at Graffe's Grocery in Erie, N.D. On May 19, 1942 she married Orlando Clifford Maurseth at Port Orchard, Wash.
John Edward Rife, 88, of Sebeka, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. He was born Aug. 4, 1920 to Walter and Susie (Hurst) Rife in Broadland, Ill. He attended school in Decatur, Ill. At an early age he ventured to Chicago. His was first employed selling Good Humor ice cream. Later he worked for Chicago Roto Print and also had various sales related jobs. He married Dorothy Ostvig in Chicago and they had three children. He moved his family to New York City.
Alice Ann Goodwater, 79, of Park Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at her home. She was born Dec. 22, 1929 to Charles and Lydia (Mueller) Wiskur in Elkton, S.D. She attended country school through the eighth grade and then attended Elkton High School in Elkton, S.D. She married Floyd Goodwater on May 16, 1962. The couple lived in Elkton, S.D. for a period of time where they owned and operated a plumbing business. They eventually moved to Wisconsin where they continued with the plumbing business.
Richard Sandberg, 70, of Menahga, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Funeral service: 11 a.m. today (Saturday), Jan. 31 at Sebeka United Methodist Church.
