The Perham Area Chamber of Commerce and the Perham Lions would like to announce that registrations are now being accepted for the 13th Annual Cal Miller Memorial Bicycle Race. This year's race will take place on Sunday, August 24, at 9 a.m. Preregister by mail or register on race day beginning at 8 a.m. Please note this is a change of date from previous publications.

Fans of the Vergas Loons amateur baseball team recently voted in huge numbers on a baseball-related web site and, as a consequence, a famous Minnesota Twins star player from the past will stage a two-hour clinic Wednesday, Aug. 6. It will be held 6-8 p.m.

When Minneapolis Star-Tribune high school reporter John Millea wrote a series of articles about how the financial crunch affecting schools, large and small. Activity fees will be in the range of $250-400 per student, per activity, at many schools already this fall.

"Whirlwind" is an understated way of describing the turn of events over the past week. It wasn't until the morning of the Republican endorsing convention that Murdock made the decision to pursue the party's nomination.
The inaugural Run 'Round the Rose will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 7 a.m. The race will start from the regionally renown Spanky's Stone Hearth Restaurant and continuing for a 12 mile scenic route around beautiful Rose Lake. Runners will find the route both scenic and challenging as it circles Rose Lake on black-top county roads and highways and maintained gravel/dirt secondary roads.
OTC, Verndale advance to State in girls softball Despite entering the 8AA Softball Playoffs with a 19-0 record, Park Region Conference champs Otter Tail Central was just the No. 4 seed in the south sub-section tournament. The Bulldogs proved their perfect record was no fluke, as they will advance to their first ever State Tournament. OTC beat No. 5 Perham, No. 1 Wadena-Deer Creek, and No. 2 Fergus Falls in the South sub-section. Then, they beat the North's No. 4 team Warroad and No. 6 team Detroit Lakes to advance to the State Tournament as 8AA Champions.
By John George email@example.com A one of a kind event is coming to Perham this weekend, and with the success organizers have had preparing for the Angler-Young Angler International Fishing Tournament and the tremendous support of the local communities, this will hopefully be the first annual tournament in the lakes area. This year's AYA Tournament will be held at Paul Miller Park on Little Pine Lake in Perham on Saturday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Area golf clubs will be hosting the 1st Annual Carson Breitenfeldt memorial and Minnesota Golf Trail Ladies Team Championship this summer. Each club will host a series of four events this summer, culminating with a banquet at the end of the series. The membership fee of $100 per person will benefit the charity of the team that finishes highest in the season standings. All players must have a USGA Handicap. Each club may have more than one team. Teams will be made up of eight players and will ply in two, four-person teams.
Hoot's Sports and Lund Boats is proud to announce that everything is set for the Angler - Young Angler International Fishing Tournament which will be held on Little Pine Lake on Saturday, May 31. The tournament is complete and will host 50 teams of three anglers, one adult and 2 young anglers 17 years old or younger. The winning local team will win a Lund boat, motor and trailer and the right to advance to the International Championship AYA tournament to be held at Kenora, Ontario. Winners from eight U.S.
