Ah, winter. The crunch of snow beneath your feet. The crisp, cold air that turns your breath to a puff of fog. The smoky smell of a vintage snowmobile's gas engine being fired up for another Old Timers Run... "I love the smell of that old snowmobile smoke," says John Madson of rural Lake Park. Two full days of cross country snowmobile racing are set to begin this Saturday, Jan. 28, and continue through Sunday, Jan.

Come Feb.
When Joe Chvala & The Flying Foot Forum visits Detroit Lakes later this week, they will be doing much more than one public performance at the Historic Holmes Theatre. That performance, set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, will be the culmination of two full days of arts outreach activities, in Detroit Lakes and surrounding communities. "We think of ourselves as being like the circus coming to town," Chvala says.
