"Famous" Minnesotans show up in Detroit Lakes

Washington Square Mall in Detroit Lakes was taken over by "Famous" Minnesotans who came to help celebrate the Capital for a Day festivities. In reality, it was sixth-graders from Detroit Lakes Middle School who stood in for celebrities and did their homework on researching their subjects.

Fishing season starts with a whimper Saturday, but sunny skies prevail on Sunday

The fishing season opened with a whimper on Saturday as rain, sleet and snow pelted Detroit Lakes. Sunday, though, was a different story as the sun came out to give fishermen a portion of the weekend to enjoy.
