Sights and Sounds of Bean Hole Days in Pequot Lakes
PEQUOT LAKES - Hundreds of people lined up Wednesday in downtown Pequot Lakes for a free bowl of baked beans at the annual Bean Hole Days event. Volunteers raised the bean pots - nicknamed Thor, Big Bertha, Ole, Sven, Lena and Baby Olga - Wednesday morning from the hole in Trailside Park, where they cooked underground overnight. Some eager bean eaters have attended countless Bean Hole Days, while others sampled the traditional lakes area delicacy for the first time. Even some New Zealanders showed up for a chance to experience the legume love fest.
