Basketball roundup: Detroit Lakes competitive at Crossover Classic

The Detroit Lakes boys basketball team went toe-to-toe with Sartell-St. Stephen on Saturday at the Guaranteed Rate Crossover Classic in Perham.

The Lakers (2-8) fell 84-68 despite locking nine shots on the defensive end of the floor. Sophomore Mason Carrier had five blocks, while Brandton Marsh had three. Carrier had 15 points and 12 boards for Detroit Lakes in the loss. Marsh scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Nate Cihak led the Lakers in scoring with 17 points. Chris Breeden was the fourth Laker in double figures.

DL girls see skid continue

The Detroit Lakes girls basketball (1-7) team dropped a pair of games on back-to-back days against two tough teams.

On Friday night, the Lakers suffered a 78-47 loss at Pequot Lakes (12-1) before falling to Sartell (9-1) 61-49 on Saturday in Perham. Abby Larson combined for 21 points in the two games while Ella Okeson had 25. Okeson left the Lakers in scoring both games.
