Essentia Health St. Mary's-Detroit Lakes has been recognized by The Chartis Center of Rural Health and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for Overall Excellence in Outcomes, reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation. This award was announced on National Rural Health Day, Nov. 15, 2018.

The Performance Leadership Awards are determined each year using the industry's most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Performance is assessed across more than 50 individual indicators and eight pillars of performance to determine the top performers. The Performance Leadership Awards recognize Quality, Outcomes and Patient Perspective.
