The traveling competition barbecue team from Spitfire Bar and Grill of Detroit Lakes and West Fargo was named the grand champion of the Greater Omaha Barbecue Society contest in Arlington, Neb., Aug. 10.

The team, led by chief cook Tim Olson, competed against 28 other teams in the Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned contest. Besides placing first in overall points, Spitfire placed first in ribs, second in pork shoulder and fourth in both the chicken and beef brisket categories.
