Hundreds of guests attended the grand opening and open house Sunday, Oct. 20, for the new Pelican Landing Senior Living Community.
The $12.6 million Pelican Landing facility will offer independent, assisted-living and memory care units at 1325 Pelican Lane.
As people walked into the community, they were greeted with coffee, cookies, tours, a prize basket giveaway and more.
Tours were led by employees of Pelican Landing, showcasing the different rooms and amenities offered at their community. There are 76 apartments for independent and assisted living -- with both double and single bedrooms. Of the 76 apartments, 21 are single bedrooms in the memory care unit alone.
Other amenities include an in-house restaurant, a bistro and a pub room (that doesn't serve alcohol), a salon, chapel, library, entertaining area and fitness center. There are heated garages and guest suites for rent, and a community group room that is available for different organizations to rent and use as well.
The Detroit Lakes Pelican Landing is one of five in Minnesota. Residents will start moving in on Nov. 1, and Pelican Landing is still accepting applications for tenants.
