New loan officer at Midwest Bank
Midwest Bank of Detroit Lakes has added Andy McCombs to its staff as a commercial loan officer.
McCombs, a graduate of Minnesota State, has 10 years of banking experience and was most recently employed at Alerus Financial in Fargo. McCombs lives in Detroit Lakes with his spouse, Kelsey, and their three children.
Midwest Bank is a locally owned, independent community bank with offices located in the west-central Minnesota communities of Detroit Lakes, Callaway, Waubun, Barnesville, Parkers Prairie, and Dalton.
New MD at Sanford Health
Dr. Mathew Malek has joined Sanford Health Detroit Lakes Clinic and Surgery Center. Malek specializes in general and trauma surgery.
Malek spent his residency at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine in Sioux Falls, S.D. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota and then attended medical school at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Malek strives to have a “whole person understanding” with patients -- to not treat the diagnosis but to treat the individual patient who has the diagnosis. He believes collaboration with patients is essential for developing treatment plans for each unique case.
In his free time, Malek likes to spend time with his wife and children and enjoys the outdoor activities of fishing, biking, hunting, water sports and ice hockey.
Two providers now offering pain outreach at Sanford
Dr. Lance Doeden and nurse practitioner Melisha Vannett began providing pain outreach services to Sanford Health Detroit Lakes and Same Day Surgery Center on August 3.
Doeden specializes in pain management, especially in the lower back and neck or stemming from cancer and compression fractures, focusing on non-opioid management of chronic and cancer pain to deliver excellent patient care.
Doeden attended medical school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks and did his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He also had a pain management fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Nurse practitioner Melisha Vannett specializes in pain management, treating back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions. She provides a thorough assessment of a patient’s medical history, physical exam, and other services such as ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests and promoting health maintenance. She attended graduate school at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.
