The City of Detroit Lakes is now offering grants to assist small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city will provide grants of up to $10,000 for eligible businesses — i.e., those with 25 or fewer full-time equivalent employees that are located within Detroit Lakes city limits. All applications are subject to meeting the grant criteria. Grant amounts may be revised based on the number of grant applications received.

The City is funding this program from the Coronavirus Relief Fund established by the federal CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act. This program takes a broader look at the economic impact of COVID-19 in order to provide financial assistance to small businesses in need of support. Businesses that have previously received PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) or EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loans) funds may still be eligible for this grant.

All Detroit Lakes small businesses are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to businesses directly impacted by Gov. Tim Walz's pandemic-related executive orders. The application and more information are available on the city’s website at cityofdetroitlakes.com.

Applications will be accepted until 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19. If you have any additional questions, please call 218-847-5658.
