Farm tours, food workshops and a farm-to-table dinner are on tap Saturday, Oct. 12, as the Sustainable Farming Association's Lake Agassiz Chapter hosts the Deep Roots Festival near Pelican Rapids, according to a news release.

Attendees can participate in hands-on workshops or kids activities in the afternoon. Four farms are conducting tours, including Twin Oaks Dairy, Northcroft Fiber Farm, Lida Farm and North Circle Seeds, according to the release. In the event, there will be a local farm-to-table meal featuring smoked pork, roast lamb and fall vegetables. Music will be provided by Dan Thornby (Detroit Lakes), Red Herring String Band (Fergus Falls) and the Klezmaniacs (Vergas).

The Deep Roots festival will be at Milt’s Barn, 47000 180th Ave., Pelican Rapids. Cost is $5 general admission for all afternoon activities and events. Meal tickets are $35 for adult and $5 for kids under 12, and includes admission to all afternoon activities and workshops.

Register by Oct. 10 at www.deep-roots-festival.com. All proceeds go sustainable farming education and promotion in the region, according to the release.
