Beth Walker of Detroit Lakes has been awarded an Advocacy Achievement Award by Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota for her work as Judicare and Pro Bono attorney, according to a news release.
Legal Services selects one attorney and/or firm annually from each of four Minnesota State Bar Association Districts in the 22 counties to receive the Advocacy Achievement Award. The award is given "in recognition of outstanding legal work making a difference to the disadvantaged."
Walker's family moved to a small farm in the Park Rapids area in 1980 where she graduated from high school seven years later. She has a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and attended Hamline University School of Law, according to the release.
She lives with her husband, Mike Berre, in rural Becker County. Walker has had her own law firm, E Walker Law, since 2018, focusing on family law.
Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota serves low-income residents of 22 northwestern Minnesota counties using offices in Moorhead, Alexandria and Bemidji, a Judicare and Pro Bono Panel, a group of 110 private attorneys throughout the region.
