Both the Internal Revenue Service and the Minnesota Department of Revenue have extended the deadlines for filing individual income tax returns.
Both the IRS and state revenue department are accepting individual income tax returns through July 15. The previous deadline was April 15. Returns by July 15 will not assess penalties or interest because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release.
The extension does apply to corporate franchise tax payments, partnerships, fiduciaries and S-corporations as well, the release said.
It does not apply to the state estimated tax payments for individual income taxes due April 15, the release said.
Further relief from other late-file or late-pay penalties, additional tax charges or interest may be requested.
