More than a week after Hurricane Sandy crashed ashore on the east coast, residents are still dealing with widespread power outages and the destruction of homes and businesses, with another threatening storm predicted later this week.

In an effort to assist those affected by the devastation, Century 21 Vista Realtors are teaming up to collect cash and new, collectable or saleable items for an auctions scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Headquarters located at 622 E Vernon, Fergus Falls.

Auctioneer Rudy Butenas and his wife Adele Butenas of Century 21 Vista and Eight Pines Auction Company in Pelican Rapids are also donating their time as professional auctioneers and clerks.

"In addition, we are especially proud to partner with the Salvation Army to benefit Hurricane Sandy storm victims. The Salvation Army has generously offered to host the auction at their Fergus Falls headquarters site. Equally important, they have assured us that 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated directly to those with the greatest need," said Judi Olson of Century 21 Vista in Fergus Falls.

Cash donations or checks made payable to the Salvation Army are encouraged along with donated auction donation items, all of which can be mailed or dropped off at Century 21 Vista, 405 W Lincoln, Fergus Falls MN 56537.
