Small businesses can apply for a new, $10K small business relief grant, according to a news release.

To be eligible, businesses must have a permanent physical location in Minnesota and be majority-owned by a permanent Minnesota resident. Businesses have to show hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, along with additional requirements, the release said.

The application period is open until 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2. Businesses receiving the grant will be selected through a randomized, computer-generated lottery process. The funds can then be used for working capital to support payroll expenses, rent, mortgages, utility bills, and other similar business expenses, the release said.

The grant is a result of recent legislative activity, the release said, which allocated over $60 million to be distributed through the Minnesota Small Business Relief Grants Program.
