The Detroit Lakes Newspapers has a new creative services professional.

Cindy Gilster has joined the team, handling a variety of tasks, including legals, information for the community pages, display ad creation and pagination.

Gilster comes to the Detroit Lakes Newspapers with a depth of experience, the latest of which was at the Perham Focus, where she served as the editorial coordinator for six years.

Prior to that, she worked at the Sebeka-Menahga Review Messenger where she gained experience setting copy, doing pagination and display.

Gilster says the idea of collecting information for the community and seeing it set to the page and in print is what keeps her in the newspaper business.

“I think we have a responsibility to our readers, and I take pride in helping produce that final product.”

She also has a grown stepson, Dylan and three grown children - Tricia, Tessa and Ty. Gilster is also a proud grandmother to Mason, 10, Owen, 7, and Kinley, 3.
