Additional Essentia Health Clinic planned for Park Rapids
Essentia Health is expanding its clinical services to the Park Rapids area.
The Essentia Board of Directors has approved a new clinic in Park Rapids. According to a news release, the new facility will better accommodate growth in specialty and primary care, enabling people to receive care close to home.
The new clinic will be located at 1103 1st Street East, the former Pamida building, which offers "high visibility and easy access for established patients and people visiting the Park Rapids area. Construction inside the space is planned to begin in December with completion in about one year. The investment into this new facility is about $8 million including the cost of land, equipment and building renovations."
Primary care will remain at the current clinic location. Some services will move to the new facility to free up space for additional primary care, behavioral health and specialist services.
The new facility will include an expanded urgent care/walk-in clinic to better meet demand as well as expanded hours, according to the release.
Additional services at the new facility will include the relocation and expansion of therapy services, orthopedics, podiatry and additional specialty clinic exam and procedure space which will support growth in these areas. Ancillary lab and radiology series will be available at both locations.
Dr. Michele Thieman said, "This new clinic will allow us to keep healthcare local for our patients and offer more specialties and outreach services right here in Park Rapids. Our patients are our number one priority and we'll continue to work closely with the hospital to provide the best care for those we serve."
Clinic Operations Manager Kim May said, "We are excited about the opportunity to expand services in our community. It is important to our team and to me that our patients are able to live, work and receive quality healthcare at home in Park Rapids. The additional space will allow us to continue to grow our primary care services and specialty outreach services and provide better access to medical care to meet the growing needs of the community."
She adds, "We are committed to providing quality healthcare in our community and will continue to work collaboratively with CHI-Saint Joseph's Hospital to provide excellent care to the patients that we serve."
