On Thursday, Jan. 6 Austin Bachmann of Bachmann Auctioneers placed third in the 23rd Annual Minnesota State Auctioneer Championship, held at the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud.
Bachmann currently resides in rural Ottertail, Minn. and is a licensed auctioneer working with his family company Bachmann Auctioneers. He is also a licensed Realtor in Minnesota, working with Bachmann Carow Real Estate Inc.
Bachmann currently serves on the MSAA Board of Directors, and this is the second consecutive year he has been in the finals.
The contest itself is a genuine auction, with each contestant selling three items. Auctioneers are judged on presentation, chant/voice and effective auctioneering. After the preliminary round, five finalists are named. Those finalists then sell three more items and also go through an interview on stage answering questions pertaining to the auction industry.
There are five judges, all auctioneers from outside Minnesota.
