Two recreational vehicle makers with operations in northwest Minnesota are again engaged in a legal battle over patents.
Polaris Industries, which is based in Plymouth, Minn., and has a plant in Roseau, filed two lawsuits in early September against Arctic Cat, which is based in Thief River Falls.
The lawsuits allege that Arctic Cat’s Wildcat line of side-by-side ATVs infringe on its patents. The lawsuits, filed in U.S. District Court in Minnesota, aren’t specific about how Arctic Cat has allegedly infringed on Polaris’s patents.
An attorney for Polaris, Dennis Bremer of the Minneapolis law firm Carlson, Caspers, Vandenburgh, Lindquist & Schuman, declined to comment. Arctic Cat officials didn’t return messages seeking comment Monday.
Polaris filed a similar suit against Arctic Cat in December 2013. Both of the patents at the heart of the latest legal filing were issued within the last few months, according to court documents.
