The traveling competition barbecue team from Spitfire Bar and Grill of Detroit Lakes and West Fargo was named the reserve grand champion of the BBQ competition at Ribs, Rods & Rock 'n Roll in Vermillion, S.D., Sept. 7.

The team, led by chief cook Tim Olson, competed against 28 other teams in the Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned contest.

Besides placing second in overall points, Spitfire placed first in the ribs and third in the pork categories.
