A marketing company founded by Luke Eggebraaten, a 2014 Detroit Lakes High School graduate, has launched a new series of online podcasts featuring local small businesses as well as other small businesses from around the U.S.

Eggebraaten’s company, Phaser Marketing, kicked off its Phaser Friday series on Feb. 26 with a podcast about Black Iron Dirt and Demolition, a dirt and snow business that works within a 70-mile radius of Fargo, N.D.

In the podcast, Eggebraaten interviews Black Iron’s owner, Luke Payne, who is a 2015 Detroit Lakes grad. The interview lasts about 25 minutes, with the two talking about what it takes to own and operate the business.

"I sat down with Luke Payne as we are passionate entrepreneurs who want to help anyone that is interested in small business," Eggebraaten wrote in an email to the Tribune.

In this and future Phaser Friday podcasts, Eggebraaten sits down with small business owners, “to talk about business entrepreneurship, ups and downs of owning their small business, advice to people looking to start, and so much more,” he stated. “We’re going to give them an opportunity to plug their business and talk about what makes them special.”

The podcasts launch on the last Friday of every month, and are available to view at phasermarketing.com or on the Phaser Friday YouTube channel.

Eggebraaten said “an incredible amount of locals” have reached out to him to be featured in the series. His father Tim Eggebraaten, for example, will be the featured guest in April (he's a former Detroit Lakes Chief of Police who now sings and plays guitar under the name Off Duty Chief.) And in June, Beth Pridday, of Finish Line DL, will be featured.

"We are not limited to local, as we will have entrepreneurs on from all over," Luke Eggebraaten said. "However, my heart lies with the Detroit Lakes community and I am ecstatic to provide this educational, informational, and fun content to the local community and beyond."

Eggebraaten started Phaser Marketing in October 2019 to help small businesses -- which typically can’t afford a full-time, in-house marketing staff -- develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies.

Phaser Marketing bills itself as an all-in-one marketing team that covers social media, graphic design, web design, search engine optimization, analytics, digital ads and more. The company is based in Omaha, Neb. (where Eggebraaten and his wife, Olivia, currently reside), but works with clients all over the nation. Its eight-person team of contractors work together remotely from different parts of the U.S.

Detroit Lakes residents may recognize the Phaser Marketing name from an online fundraiser the company held for the local Boys & Girls Club last July. Phaser raised over $6,000 for the club. The company has set a goal of $25,000 for its next fundraiser, coming up this summer in Detroit Lakes, for a charitable organization yet to be announced.
