St. Mary's Regional Health Center recently received a grant of $21,555 from the Fargo/Moorhead based Cullen Children's Foundation to buy equipment for its newly expanding therapy services area.

The new facility which will serve children as well as adults, will house a gross motor gym room, a fine motor/sensory room and a speech/language room for pediatric clients with the grant helping to equip the space with specialized pediatric therapy equipment, therapeutic toys and a variety of other technologies designed to enhance the lives of children, families and the community.

With its new space, St. Mary's pediatric therapy goal is to be a regional provider for pediatric therapy services in the Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas.

Currently many rural Minnesota families have limited access to such services and have to travel over an hour to receive outpatient services for speech, occupational and physical therapy for their children with illness, chronic medical conditions, cancer and/or developmental disabilities.

The Cullen Children's Foundation is a nonprofit organization servicing the Fargo/Moorhead area. The goals of the Cullen Children's Foundation are to increase awareness of children's healthcare issues, focusing on cancer as well as improve the quality of life for children and their families, who are dealing with cancer.
