In December, the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Dakota announced Ulteig as the 2015 winner of the Award for Engineering Excellence in the category of Structural Systems for the Sixth Street parking ramp in downtown Bismarck.
This project is unique because it not only symbolizes both economic and population growth for the western part of North Dakota, but it’s an indicator of the revitalization of Bismarck, which in Forbes Magazine recently called “the seventh fastest-growing small city in America.”
The Sixth Street parking ramp accommodates nearly 500 parking spaces, easing the daytime parking crunch, while creating a permanent structure and meeting the goals of Bismarck’s downtown master plan.
This creates value for downtown and encourages more business to establish roots in that part of Bismarck as well as creates a high quality structure that has a significant impact to the downtown area and encourages people live and work in the downtown area.
This project began in 2006, but was delayed in 2009. City officials restarted the project in 2013 with Ulteig’s design team, and the ramp opened for business in Oct. 2014.
