For the past five years, she was human resources director at Ecumen. Before that, Boreen had been resident services director at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park.

She earned her bachelor's degree in health care management from the University of Minnesota Crookston, and is a licensed nursing home administrator.

An Ohio native, Boreen lives in Detroit Lakes with her husband, Nick, and two girls.

The $12.6 million Pelican Landing facility is on track to open in October, Boreen said. The facility will offer independent, assisted-living and memory care units at 1325 Pelican Lane.
