Parade of the Northwest: The 84th Northwest Water Carnival concludes with the Parade of the Northwest, which steps off at 1 p.m. at the corner of Oak Grove Avenue and West State Street (the parking lot of the Chamber of Commerce). Wildlife Movie: A free screening of the movie, "Super Hummingbirds," will take place at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. With high-speed camerawork and breakthrough new science, we enter the fast-paced world of hummingbirds as never before. They move faster than the eye can see, and possess natural born super powers that enable them to fly backwards, upside-down, and float in midair. Hidden Talent Show: The 16th Annual Wayne Nelson Memorial Hidden Talent Show will be held at the Cormorant Community Center at 7 p.m. For the past 15 years, the Community Center has hosted a packed house, enjoying an evening of entertainment of every kind. This year will be no different! Performers find creative and humorous ways to raise a chuckle and bring a round of applause. Ice cream will be served following the program. Benefits from the show go towards ongoing shows and projects at the Community Center. Wildlife Movie: A free screening of the 78-minute film, "Disney Nature: Bears," will take place at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Showcasing a year in the life of a bear family, their journey begins as winter ends. Emerging from hibernation, a mother and cubs face the bitter cold and an exciting but very risky outside world. Astonishing footage captures the fast-moving action and suspense of an endearing family learning to live life to its fullest in the wilds of Alaska. Ham Picnic Dinner: Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 43526 School House Road, Osage, will host a ham picnic dinner following its 10:45 a.m. worship service, with serving to start at noon. Thursday Trucks & Tunes: The Detroit Lakes City Park will host live music and offerings from area food trucks on July 25 and Aug. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. In case of rain, both the music and food trucks will be relocated to the Historic Holmes Theatre, which is co-sponsoring the event along with the City of Detroit Lakes. Each event is open to the public, and there is no admission fee.

Tuesdays in the Park: Every Tuesday night from June through August, Habitat for Humanity will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, beans, potato salad and beverages in the Detroit Lakes City Park from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Following the meal, live music begins at 7 p.m. under the bandshell and lasts for approximately an hour, though some performers do continue to play a little later into the evening. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, as bench seating is limited. In case of inclement weather, both the picnic and the concert will be moved inside the Pavilion.
Tamarac Wildlife Excursions: Explore Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of the refuge on this two hour driving tour. Volunteer Respite Care: Become a respite care volunteer! For those 17 years and older interested in providing basic companion and supervision to older adults to relieve their primary caregivers. AmeriCorps volunteers receive a $200 per month stipend and after completing 450 hours in a year, receive a $1,600 educational grant.
