Twenty-six teenagers and seven adults from Holy Rosary, St. Francis and St. Mary of the Lakes parishes in Detroit Lakes and Lake Park attended Catholic Heart Work Camp in Denver.
This year there are Catholic Heart Work Camps in 39 cities. The camp leaders within each city select homes that qualify for help. Most of the teens worked at private residences, some did work at churches in the area and some helped sort and repair used books being sent to schools in Africa.
Each day they broke off into a work group comprised of kids and adults they had never met before and worked all day at their designated job sites. They were also able to attend daily mass as well as morning and evening programming featuring music, skits and faith sharing. The group drove to Colorado, stopping to visit Rocky Mountain National Park and the Black Hills on their way home.
The youth and adults attending from Holy Rosary were Alexa Anderson, Devyn Becker, Brian and Christy Clark, Gary and Joe Hager, Jacob Kempenich, Travis King, Hannah Spry and Chris and Brittanie Watson. Those attending from St. Mary of the Lakes included Austin and Isaac Clem, Chance Kostreba, Grace and Sue Livermore, Cole Pudwill and Brock Rieppel. Those attending from St. Francis in Lake Park included Chris Livdahl, Paul and Sadie Nistler, Jen and Nate Renner, Sydney Schiffner, Rondi, Nora and Emma Ulmer, Mary, Maria and Anna Veit, Danielle Walz and Steven and Caitlyn Wavra.
