She is writing a memoir of growing up in a lively but conflicted family.

"Since I have discovered how much I enjoy writing, I'm looking forward to writing more creative non-fiction pieces with potential for publication," Sweder said.

"Art can be very frustrating, but on occasion I have 'A Golden Day.' Mostly I paint to please me and if someone else likes it that pleases me too," said Millie Conard, Douglas County Artist Small Grant recipient.

The LRAC Artist Small Grant application is available online at the LRAC website LRAC4.org. Follow the link from the Grant heading to Apply and create a logon profile.

You will need an artistic resume and samples of your art work for the application as well.
