Maplewood State Park will host its annual Candlelight Ski event on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The park’s 1-mile ski trail will be lighted with 150 candles for visitors to come and enjoy the evening, whether they prefer to ski, hike or snowshoe — or just stand around the campfire, chat with friends, and enjoy hot chili, s'mores, bars and hot drinks. You can even do both!

Maplewood State Park also has 20 sets of snowshoes that visitors can try out, but be sure to come early for the best selection. The chili will be hot and ready to serve by 5 p.m., so visitors can come to the park early and enjoy skiing some of Maplewood’s 8 miles of trails that afternoon, then join the Friends of Maplewood at the Trail Center for supper before heading out to enjoy the candlelit trail.

All those planning to ski who are age 16 or older must have a one-day ski pass; cost is $10. A one-year ski pass can also be purchased for $25 at the park, or at most sports stores in the area. As always, Minnesota State Park stickers are required to park your vehicle anywhere inside Maplewood.

Still have some questions about the event? They can be answered by calling Maplewood State Park at 218-863-8383.
