Wildlife Movie: A free screening of the movie, "Disney Nature: Bears" will take place at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. This 78-minute film will allow you to a experience a year in the life of a bear family. Their journey begins as winter ends; emerging from hibernation, a mother and cubs face the bitter cold and an exciting but very risky outside world. Astonishing footage captures the fast-moving action and suspense of an endearing family learning to live life to its fullest in the wilds of Alaska. Roast Pork Dinner & Raffle: St. Theodore's Catholic Church of Ponsford will host a roast pork dinner and raffle to benefit various church projects. The all-you-can-eat dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and features homemade roast pork mashed potatoes, gravy, slaw salad, relishes, and freshly baked desserts. Right after the dinner, there will be a raffle featuring a hand-carved Minnesota Lady Slipper made by artist Sheila Hendrickson. Numerous other gift certificates and prizes will also be awarded throughout the afternoon. Cost is $9 per person for the dinner (kids under age 6 are admitted free of charge, while those under age 10 can eat for just $4).

Detroit Lakes Library Club: The Detroit Lakes Library Club will meet at 2 p.m. in the library's main meeting room. The club's 2018-19 kickoff program will feature renowned baker and cookbook author, Beatrice Ojakangas. This program is free and open to everyone.

Tuesdays in the Park: The final Tuesdays in the Park picnic supper and concert at the Detroit Lakes City Park will get underway with Habitat for Humanity serving up hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, beans, potato salad and beverages in the Detroit Lakes City Park from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a concert featuring the Lakes Area Community Concert Band at the bandshell, starting at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, as bench seating is limited. In case of inclement weather, both the picnic and the concert will be moved inside the Pavilion.

Pork Loin Dinner: Immanuel Lutheran Church of Audubon will host its annual fall dinner, featuring grilled pork loin, cheesy potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, dinner rolls, pickles, dessert and beverages, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is a free will offering; the church is located at 180 Swan St., just off Highway 10 in Audubon.

Patrick Thompson Benefit: A benefit for area resident Patrick Thompson, who will soon undergo open heart surgery and has been placed on the recipient list for a kidney transplant, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Shorewood Pub. Roast Beef Dinner & Raffle: A roast beef dinner and raffle to benefit Assumption Catholic Church of Callaway will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Callaway Event Center.

Chicken Dinner: Lake Grove Lutheran Church will host its annual fall dinner at the Waubun Community Center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., serving a chicken entree with salad bar and pie. Cost is $10 for those ages 12 and up or $5 for children ages 6-11; those age 5 and under are admitted free of charge.

Detroit Lakes Area Pickleball: The outdoor pickleball courts at Peoples Park in Detroit Lakes are now open for the season. L.A. Moms group: Lakes Area (L.A.) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month. Bingo for DL Hockey: The DL Youth Hockey organization holds Bingo every Sunday at Zorbaz in support of youth hockey in Detroit Lakes. All are welcome; Bingo starts at 6 p.m.
