Creative Grief Workshop: Hospice of the Red River Valley is offering a free educational creative grief program for adults in Detroit Lakes from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at its offices in Detroit Lakes (1111 Highway 10). Create do-it-yourself (DIY) memorial pots with a local master gardener. Attendees will also learn ways to manage grief during the holidays and important self-care strategies with others who have experienced a similar loss through death. Holiday Open House & Volunteer Fair: The gift shop at Essentia Health St. Mary's will be hosting a Holiday Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring door prizes, treats and holiday deals. Defensive Driving Class: An AARP four-hour refresher class on Defensive Driving will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Parish Center, 1043 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes. Brown Bag Lunch: The Becker County Museum will host the latest in its monthly Brown Bag Lunch presentations, starting at noon, with a presentation by Kelly Blackledge of Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge on "Bird Feeding in Becker County." The presentation is free, but those who would like to reserve a boxed lunch should contact the museum by 10 a.m. on the morning of the presentation (attendees are also welcome to bring their own lunch). Ojibwe Floral Designs: Come to the Becker County Museum at 714 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes, between 11 a.m. and noon to learn more about Ojibwe floral designs from museum programs director Emily Buermann. An enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, Buermann is also a beadwork artist and will be bringing some samples of her work to share as well as discussing traditional designs and technique — and guiding participants through designing their own art piece to bring home with them. Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month. Bingo for DL Hockey: The DL Youth Hockey organization holds Bingo every Sunday at Zorbaz in support of youth hockey in Detroit Lakes. All are welcome; Bingo starts at 6 p.m.
