UPDATE: Royal Courtyard to be lit tonight as planned; Grand Lighting Ceremony moved to Saturday

Despite the less-than-favorable weather conditions expected for tonight, the lighting of King Isbit's Royal Courtyard that was scheduled to kick of Detroit Lakes' 2019 Polar Fest celebration will proceed as planned.

However, the Grand Lighting Ceremony, including the "Fire in Ice" pits and music, has been rescheduled for Saturday.

West Lake Drive will be closed from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday to accommodate the event; those planning to attend are encouraged to use the public lots at the City Park, Kent Freeman Arena and Peoples Park.
