Baby Bounce: The Detroit Lakes Public Library has scheduled a Baby Bounce session at 10:30 a.m. in the main meeting room of the Detroit Lakes Public Library. A half-hour program of songs, stories, flannel board, action poems for infants and toddlers plus their caregivers will be followed by playtime and chatting with other caregivers. First Lutheran Church Summer Festival: Come to Detroit Lakes' First Lutheran Church between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the congregation's inaugural Summer Festival, which will include a luncheon of pulled turkey sandwiches, potato salad and rhubarb desserts starting at 11 a.m., as well as a bake sale and "used treasure sale" throughout the day. Cost for the luncheon is $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 10 and under.

Flag Retirement Ceremony: A United States of America Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on the Ogema baseball diamond. This event is being sponsored by Ogema VFW Post 9880 and Auxiliary and the public is cordially invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served following the service.

Northern Lights Fish Fry: Northern Lights Freedom & Life Church will host its annual fish fry starting at 6 p.m. There will be a free will offering taken for the meal. The church is located one half mile east of Richwood on County Highway 34.

Family Band Jam: The Hanks and McGregor families will be jamming together at the VFW Hall in Ogema, starting at 3 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy a wide variety of music, performed by five generations of family entertainers.

Prayer Walk of Faith: Local residents of all ages, races and religions are invited to come to Detroit Lakes' Veterans Memorial Park at 3 p.m. for the community's inaugural Prayer Walk of Faith. Greetings, testimonies and prayers at the park will be followed by a walk south from the park to the Detroit Lakes City Beach, along the east side of Washington Avenue. At the beach, there will be a prayer barrel and cross set up on the shoreline for people to place their personal prayers inside on a handwritten sheet of paper; these will then be set ablaze as an offering to God, following by some songs of praise and worship.

Senior LinkAge Line, the designated State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) for Minnesota, will provide a complete overview of Medicare, including what is covered under Parts A & B, enrollment guidelines, Minnesota options, Advantage plans (Part C), and Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D). Bible Reading Marathon: Detroit Lakes' 5th Annual Bible Reading Marathon runs from June 13-18 at Peoples Park. More than 500 people will be taking turns reading from the Bible for 10-15 minutes, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. The goal is to complete every chapter of both the Old and New Testaments, Genesis to Revelation, over the course of approximately 84 hours. White Earth Powwow: Now in its 151st year, the White Earth Powwow is a grand celebration of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, celebrating the day the White Earth Reservation was created. The event is full of native dance, food, art and dress, all in celebration of the White Earth Nation. It will be held June 14-16 at the powwow grounds in White Earth.

Nondenominational Sunday Services: Services at the nondenominational Shoreham Chapel are held each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. through the end of the summer. Kathie Brekke & the Apostle Blues Band will be special guests at the June 9 service.

Tuesdays in the Park: Every Tuesday night from June through August, Habitat for Humanity will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, beans, potato salad and beverages in the Detroit Lakes City Park from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Following the meal, live music begins at 7 p.m. under the bandshell and lasts for approximately an hour, though some performers do continue to play a little later into the evening. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, as bench seating is limited. In case of inclement weather, both the picnic and the concert will be moved inside the Pavilion.

Wild Wednesdays: Explore the world of nature with your child during this hour long adventure geared for 3-7 year olds. Meets at Tamarac's Discovery Center every Wednesday this summer, June through August, starting at 10 a.m. For more information please contact Refuge staff at 218-847-2641.

Tamarac Wildlife Excursions: Explore Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of the refuge on this two hour driving tour. Outdoor Pickleball: Detroit Lakes Area Pickleball hosts organized play from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday through Friday at the Peoples Park outdoor courts (Saturday mornings are also busy). All players are welcome. Courts are marked by skill level. Please park north of the courts during Tuesday and Saturday Farmers Market. The new courts are open to the public at all times. On rain days, 2-4 courts are available at the DLCCC, depending on program scheduling. Check the gym door for details. Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month. Bingo for DL Hockey: The DL Youth Hockey organization holds Bingo every Sunday at Zorbaz in support of youth hockey in Detroit Lakes. All are welcome; Bingo starts at 6 p.m.
