Polar Fest Fat Tire Bike Demo: The public is invited to stop by the DL City Park between 12:30-3:30 p.m. to try riding a fat tire mountain bike. This free demonstration event is sponsored by the Lakes Area Mountain Bike Alliance and Trails (LAMBAT) with the support of Great Northern Bicycle Company of Fargo. Polar Fest Beer Quaffing Competition: Hub 41 on West Lake Drive will host the second annual event starting at 2 p.m. Two teammates stand at each end of a long bar top; one slides the beer mug down the smooth surface and as it flies off the table the other teammate catches the brew mid-flight and drinks it down! Color Guard Breakfast: The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard is hosting a fundraiser breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the Detroit Lakes American Legion Club. Breakfast will feature scrambled eggs, pancakes or French toast, and sausage or bacon, all for a suggested donation of $7.

Polar Fest Kids’ Pan Fishing Derby: The Minnesota Darkhouse & Angling Association will host its annual Polar Fest Kids’ Pan Fishing Derby from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on Little Detroit Lake, at the Rossman Avenue Public Access. This derby is free for all kids age 13 and under; holes will be drilled and worms will be provided. Many prizes will be given out, including a Biggest Fish Trophy.

Candlelight Cross Country Ski Night: Get out your cross country skis for a candlelit ski through the woods at Detroit Mountain Recreation Area from 6 to 8 p.m. The inner loop of the east side cross country ski trails at Detroit Mountain will be lit with votive candles. Maplewood Candlelight Ski: From 6 to 8:30 p.m., the 1-mile ski trail at Maplewood State Park will be lighted with 150 candles so people can come and enjoy the evening. Ski, hike, or snowshoe, stand around the campfire, chat with friends, and enjoy hot chili, s'mores, bars, and hot drinks. The chili will be served at 5 p.m., so come early for some supper before heading out on the trail. Maplewood State Park even has 20 sets of snowshoes that you can try out. Skiers age 16 and up will need a ski pass; $10 daily or $25 annual ski passes are available at the park. Minnesota State Park stickers are also required for parking. STEAM Club at the Becker County Museum: The Becker County Museum will be hosting a weekly Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) Club every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., now through March 31. Students have the option to choose between the Art track or the STEM track, or can or move back and forth between projects. Each two-hour session includes a daily snack and supplies. Memory Cafe of the Lakes: Memory Cafe of the Lakes is a free place to gather, open to those with mild to moderate memory problems and their care partner. Volunteer Respite Care: Become a respite care volunteer! For those 17 years and older interested in providing basic companion and supervision to older adults to relieve their primary caregivers. AmeriCorps volunteers receive a $200 per month stipend and after completing 450 hours in a year, receive a $1,600 educational grant. Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month.
