The Detroit Lakes Tribune has once again begun accepting community calendar items, for publication online and in our Wednesday print edition.

Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

Holy Rosary Parish Festival: Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Detroit Lakes will be hosting a "scaled down" version of its annual Parish Festival, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Activities will include an outdoor mass, picnic dinnerk, country store, bake sale (including "Deacon Gary's" mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies!) and raffle. Tuesdays in the Park: Live music by DL Dixieland, 7-8:30 p.m., Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell. No cover charge; free will donations accepted. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Masks are strongly recommended, but not required. In case of rain, this concert will be canceled.

Back to School Supply Drive Distribution: There will be a drive-through school supply distribution event held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roosevelt Elementary School, 510 11th Ave. SE, Detroit Lakes. Please stay in your vehicle; volunteers will come to you and provide pre-filled backpacks based on the grades of your children. There is no cost to participate, but please preregister by calling Karol at 218-847-5628, ext. 5364. Cash or check donations to support this event can be dropped off at Midwest Bank, Bremer Bank and Anytime Fitness.

Steak Fry: The First Zinger Squadron of American Legion Post 15 will be hosting a steak fry fundraiser starting at 5 p.m. in the American Legion Club, 810 West Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes. Cost is $14 per plate; serving will continue until all the steak is gone.

Boats & Bars XV: The Lakes Area Parrot Heads have postponed their 15th annual Boats & Bars celebration until Aug. 28, 2021. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29.
