The Detroit Lakes Tribune has once again begun accepting community calendar items, for publication online and in our Wednesday print edition.

Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

Lakes Area Women's Expo: Leighton Broadcasting will host its annual Lakes Area Women's Expo at Richwood Winery this year. The event will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., with tickets available in two "waves," either 2-5 p.m. or 5-8 p.m. COVID safety guidelines will be followed. All activities will be held outdoors, including live music, vendors, food trucks, wine tasting and more. Tickets may be purchased online at www.detroitlakesradiomarketplace.com for $5 each. Bethlehem Lutheran Fall Dinner: Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Frazee will hold its annual Fall Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This year's format is drive in, take out only (i.e., no on-site dining). A turkey steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, glazed carrots, coleslaw and dessert will be served; no beverages included. Proceeds to benefit church mission projects.

Izaak Walton League: The Prairie Woods Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will host a virtual meeting and program via Zoom, starting at 7 p.m. The program topic will be, "Why Solar? The Case for Powering Our Community with Solar Energy," and the scheduled speaker is Kyle Yschida, office manager at the Rural Renewable Energy Alliance. There will also be an update on what’s happening in the lakes area with solar power, featuring Amelinda Hendrickx, an engineer in the Energy Services department at Lake Region Electric Co-operative. Concert in the Park: Fargo-Moorhead area rock band (with horns!) Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome will perform beneath the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This is a ticketed event; reserved seating (you keep the chair) will be available for $50 per person, while the cost of general admission is $25 (bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on). United Way Community Celebration: The United Way of Becker County will not have a Community Celebration this year.
