The Detroit Lakes Tribune accepts community calendar items, for publication online and in our Wednesday and Sunday print editions, space permitting.

Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

Holiday closures

Food Pantry: The Becker County Food Pantry will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24 in observance of Christmas Eve. It is normally open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center: The Center will close at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, and remain closed on Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25. Normal hours will resume on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Detroit Lakes Public Library: All branches and LINK sites of Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL), including Detroit Lakes Public Library, will close at or before noon on Thursday, Dec. 24 and remain closed until Saturday morning, Dec. 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday. LARL sites will also close at or before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 and remain closed until Saturday morning, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year's Day. Visit larl.org for more information.

Cancellations

DL 200 Snowmobile Races: Cor PowerSports has announced that the DL 200 snowmobile races that were scheduled to take place the weekend of Jan. 2-3 on Detroit Lake have been cancelled due to ongoing statewide COVID-19 safety restrictions.
