The Detroit Lakes Tribune accepts community calendar items, for publication online and in our Wednesday and Sunday print editions, space permitting.

Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

Lenten Fish Fry: The Knights of Columbus Council 12581, of Frazee, is having the second of their annual fundraising fish fry dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 202 Maple Ave. West, Frazee. Meals will be for pick-up only; there will be no dining at the church, according to the Knights. The dinners include fried fish, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, bread and ice cream. Cost is $10 per person. The proceeds will go toward repairing the Knights' Pro Life sign, supporting the Becker County Food Pantry, spring scholarships at Frazee schools and and Sacred Heart Church.

Legion Auxiliary Breakfast Fundraiser: The American Legion Post 15 Auxiliary will host a breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon at the Legion Club in Detroit Lakes. Choice of biscuits and gravy, pancakes or French toast, sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs and coffee, all for a suggested donation of $7.

Saturday, March 20

Drive-Through Food Drive: The Detroit Lakes Lions Club, along with the Detroit Lakes Dairy Queen are sponsoring a Drive Through Food Drive in support of the Becker County Food Pantry, from 12 to 4 p.m. in the parking lot at the Becker County Food Pantry, 1308 Rossman Ave., Detroit Lakes (aka the county fairgrounds). The Lions will be accepting cash, canned and non-perishable food items, and will match all donations up to $500. Each donor who comes to the fairgrounds during the event will receive a coupon for a free Dairy Queen treat.

Monday, March 22

Farmers to Families Food Distribution: The Farmers to Families Food Box program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will be holding a mobile food shelf event at the Soo Pass Ranch, south of Detroit Lakes on Highway 10, starting at 5 p.m. The waiting line will start at 4 p.m. The event is open to the public and does not require any income verification to receive a donation box.

Lake Country Woodcarvers: Anyone interested in wood carving or woodworking is welcome to bring their latest projects to the Holmes Art Cellar every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. and enjoy a free woodworking session. Detroit Lakes Public Library: The Detroit Lakes Public Library has expanded its operating hours to resume the same schedule it had pre-pandemic. Hours are as follows ... Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; it is closed on Sundays.
