Chamber Economic Development Summit: The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Economic Development Summit from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the ballroom at the Historic Holmes Theatre, 806 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Returning as an in-person event after going virtual last year, the 2021 Detroit Lakes Economic Development Summit will focus on the local economy and future workforce, and will also highlight new building projects, businesses and other developments in the Detroit Lakes area. Mommy & Me Painting Class: A special Mother's Day-themed painting class for moms and their children will get underway at 6 p.m. in the Holmes Art Cellar, located on the basement level of the Historic Holmes Theatre, 806 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Moms can paint a flower pot and each child can paint colorful flowers for this special, two-canvas art piece. Class takes place in person; masks are required. Storytime Live: Join Kai from the Moorhead Public Library or Eliza from the Detroit Lakes Public Library for a 10 a.m. Storytime featuring songs and stories. ATV Certification Class: The Woods & Wheels ATV Club is hosting an ATV certification class for riders age 12 and up, starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Detroit Lakes VFW Club, 500 N. Lions Flower Sale: The Detroit Lakes Lions Club will be selling geraniums to raise funds for the Lions Club mission Eyes for Mexico. Twelve-inch pots of geraniums can be ordered online at, for $26 each. Flowers may be picked up this Thursday through Saturday, May 6-8, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1400 Corbet Road, Detroit Lakes. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Week of Prayer: Join retired local minister Barry Schoder at noon each day through Friday, May 7, for a prayer session in the gazebo across from the Detroit Lakes Pavilion in the City Park.
