The Detroit Lakes Tribune accepts community calendar items, for publication online and in our Wednesday and Sunday print editions, space permitting.

Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

Museum Groundbreaking/Exhibit Opening: A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Becker County Museum building on Summit Avenue (next to the Historic Holmes Theatre) will take place at 11 a.m. Attendees can stay and explore the new Detroit Lakes Sesquicentennial exhibit at the existing museum building (714 Summit Ave.), which will be opening the same day. Food Truck Fridays: Hosted by Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary, Food Truck Fridays will take place every Friday through Sept. 3. Detroit Lakes City Park, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Food trucks on site may change; event will be held rain or shine.

Yoga in the Vineyard: Richwood Winery will host its first Yoga in the Vineyard morning session of the season starting at 9 a.m. No cost to attend; register at cabinfeverstudiomn.com. Session will last approximately one hour.

Detroit Lakes High School Graduation: The graduating class of Detroit Lakes High School will get their diplomas in a 2:30 p.m. ceremony at Mollberg Field. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. No masks, and no limit on crowd size this year. Ceremony will also be streamed live at dllakers.com.

Lupus Motorcycle Ride: Eagles Aerie 2342 will be hosting its annual Lupus Motorcycle Ride. Registration starts at 11 a.m. in the Eagles Club at 112 W. Holmes St., Detroit Lakes. Motorcycles will depart from in front of the club promptly at noon. Cost is $20 per driver and $10 per passenger. Memorial Weekend Skate Jam: The Detroit Lakes Skatepark Association will be hosting a Memorial Weekend Skate Jam starting at 1 p.m. Grilled food, including vegan options, will also be available. Eddie Hudson and Unspoken Notion will DJ the event with free giveaways, and other prize opportunities, throughout the afternoon. Other non-skater activities will include: Tug-O-War, limbo and booty boarding.

Memorial Day Program: Local veterans' organizations will present a Memorial Day program at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Detroit Lakes, starting at 10:30 a.m. The program is expected to conclude with a 21-gun salute and playing of "Taps" at approximately 11 a.m.

Memorial Day Luncheon: A light lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Egelund Church. Free will donations will be used for upkeep of the church and cemetery. Everyone is welcome to attend. The church is located 10 miles north of Detroit Lakes on Richwood Road and 4.5 miles east on Becker County Road 26.

Tuesdays in the Park: The Historic Holmes Theatre's Tuesdays in the Park summer concert series kicks off with a 5:30 p.m. picnic lunch, hosted by the Fuller Center for Housing. The picnic will be followed by live music from the Becker County Dixieland Authority under the bandshell in the Detroit Lakes City Park, starting at 7 p.m. Funds raised from the picnic will help provide affordable housing for needy families in the lakes area, while funds raised from the concert will help support the arts in Detroit Lakes.
