The Detroit Lakes Tribune accepts community calendar items, for publication online and in our Wednesday and Sunday print editions, space permitting.

Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

LCRC Spring Drive Through Fundraiser: The Lakes Crisis & Resource Center is having a Spring Drive Through Fundraiser from 4 to 6 p.m. in the LCRC parking lot, 1339 Pelican Lane, Detroit Lakes. There will be games, snacks, raffle drawings and more. No cost to attend.

Food Truck Fridays: Hosted by Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary, Food Truck Fridays will take place every Friday through Sept. 3. Detroit Lakes City Park, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Food trucks on site may change; event will be held rain or shine.

Richwood Blood Drive: Richwood Winery will be hosting a blood drive for Vitalant from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Appointments may be scheduled through vitalant.org or by calling 218-844-5990.

Music in the Vineyard: Richwood Winery will host live music with Doug Thompson from 4 to 6 p.m. Reservations are encouraged, but not necessary. National Trails Day Hike: Join the Laurentian Lakes Chapter of the North Country Trail Association for a 6-mile hike in celebration of National Trails Day, starting at 9 a.m. Meet at the Gartner Farm trailhead on Minnesota State Highway 113, which is 8.3 miles east of the Becker County Road 37 intersection. This hike will go to the shore of the beautiful Hernando DeSoto Lake in Itasca St. Park. Bring your lunch as we enjoy the views and the old growth Norway pines. Be prepared for ticks and mosquitoes. Turf Wars Racing: Grass drag racing event held right in the Cormorant lakes area, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Sherbrooke Turf, 15612 Sherbrooke Road, Pelican Rapids, This family-friendly event will include not just double elimination drag racing, but also food trucks, trophies, and more! Doves of Peace at Shoreham Chapel: The Hattie B Goodman Chapel at 24263 North Melissa Drive, Shorewood, will be hosting a live performance by Doves of Peace as part of its 10:45 a.m. service. There is no cost to attend.

Tuesday, June 8

Tuesdays in the Park: The Historic Holmes Theatre's Tuesdays in the Park summer concert series continues with a 5:30 p.m. picnic lunch, hosted by the Fuller Center for Housing. The picnic will be followed by live music from the Becker County Dixieland Authority under the bandshell in the Detroit Lakes City Park, starting at 7 p.m. Funds raised from the picnic will help provide affordable housing for needy families in the lakes area, while funds raised from the concert will help support the arts in Detroit Lakes. Hike the North Country Trail: Join the Laurentian Lakes Chapter of the North Country Trail Association for a 4-mile guided hike in Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Visitors Center and we will shuttle to the trailhead on the Old Indian trail. We will walk through some old fields and near several ponds as we look for spring wildflowers. Cruise DL Night: Come down to West Lake Drive along the Detroit Lakes City Beach between 4 and 8:30 p.m. to see a wide array of vintage vehicles, which will be parked along both sides of the street for viewing. White Earth Pow Wow: The 153rd White Earth Treaty Day and Pow Wow Celebration is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, June 11-13 at the pow wow grounds in White Earth. There are five grand entries planned, at 1 and 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday and again at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Festivities will also include dance contests in various categories including women's jingle, women's fancy shawl, men's chicken and men's woodland dances. There will also be a royalty contest, a singing contest and more.
