Submissions must be made at least a week in advance of the event date, in writing, to either dltribune@dlnewspapers.com or vgerdes@dlnewspapers.com.

Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.

October Fest: The Detroit Lakes Shrine Color Guard is hosting an October Fest celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot behind 517 Washington Ave. (offices of Coldwell Banker, next to Detroit Lakes Newspapers). Enjoy German-style food, music and beer, sign up for door prizes, and if you come in German-themed dress, you may be eligible for Best Costume (male, female and couple) prizes as well. Veterans Benefit Crawfish Feed: There will be a crawfish country boil served from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Mainline Bar & Grill in Downer, Minn., with a flag presentation by the Fargo-Moorhead Honor Guard at 3 p.m. and live music from Shawn & Kyle of October Road starting at 3:30 p.m. Pumpkin painting for the kids, meat raffle and more. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit local charities.

Peoples Park Pickleball: The pickleball courts at Peoples Park are owned by the City of Detroit Lakes, and are open to the public 24/7.
